Reporting to the Director of Nursing, this role is vital to delivering comprehensive treatment plans and fostering positive health outcomes for underserved populations.
Job Description:
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team treating patients with acute substance use disorders
- Conduct medical/psychiatric history and physical exams within 48 hours of patient admission
- Order diagnostic studies, interpret results, and initiate therapy in line with program guidelines
- Refer patients for hospital admission when appropriate
- Provide health education focused on disease prevention and health promotion
- Manage medication and offer consultation as needed
- Collaborate with staff nurses, case managers, and medical directors on treatment plans
- Review challenging addiction medication cases with the treatment team
- Utilize the electronic health record (EHR) efficiently to document patient care
- Observe and document patient responses to treatments
- Communicate with counseling staff to discuss patient progress and plans
- Adhere to program policies and administrative procedures
- Perform additional duties as assigned
