General Description:

A Brief Overview

What You Will Do
- Demonstrates successful patient/technical imaging skills by producing a variety of radiological procedures while maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
- Consistently follows hospital and department guidelines for patient identification and safety.
- Maintains licensure and continuing education requirements.
- Maintains Competency skill levels for patient exam imaging.
- Provides age-specific care to patients from neonates through geriatrics.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- For specific duties and responsibilities, refer to documentation provided by the department during orientation.
- Must abide by all requirements to safely and securely maintain Protected Health Information (PHI) for our patients. Annual training, the UH Code of Conduct and UH policies and procedures are in place to address appropriate use of PHI in the workplace.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate’s Degree (Required) or
- Completion of an accredited 2-year program in a school of Radiologic Technology with appropriate Certification. (Required)
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Clear knowledge of x-ray equipment (digital/analog), image printers, computers, PACS and radiology information system. (Required proficiency)
- Must demonstrate effective organizational, written and oral communication skills and excellent customer service skills. (Required proficiency)
Licenses and Certifications
- Registered Technologist Radiography (ARRT-R) (Required) and
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire (Required)
- Licensed by the state of Ohio (Required)

A Brief Overview
Summary: A career as a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technologist is exciting for those who are passionate about health care, patient comfort and saving lives. As a technologist, you are asked to operate MRI scanners and to ensure that the procedure produces quality images and information for the health care professional to make an accurate diagnosis. You have the chance to work and interact directly with patients as you ensure that they are comfortable and calm. Utilize your medical knowledge by interviewing patients, explaining the procedure and placing the patient in the appropriate spot on the table. Technologists are also organized, detail oriented people who are familiar with the anatomical area that is being scanned and the patient’s history. Develop relationships with patients as you help diagnose their condition as an MRI technologist.

- Performs MRI scans as directed by radiologist
- Patient care during visit to MRI
- Answers phones and arranges schedule for in-patient request
- Assures a safe and clean environment
- Maintains knowledge of technical skills
- Initiates and maintains positive relationships with patients/customers, and co-workers
